Al Montna Hitting Facility
CAL POLY, SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA
When Cal Poly’s Baseball team began to gain new national recognition at the Division One level, it was clear their facilities were sub-par compared to their west coast contemporaries. Ahead of their first ever hosting of Regionals for the College World Series, Cal Poly made the decision to build a structure that would allow batting practice year round. The difficulty in this project was not the structure, as the pre-engineered metal building system was the obvious choice. The foundation, however, was difficult to design within the confined site location with many existing utilities, field services and other constraints of existing buildings.
